Daniel Romualdez, a Connoisseur Interior Design Trendsetter

Tuesday, August 29th, 2017 at 3:18pm Engel & Völkers Vancouver

The Connoisseur of sophisticated interiors, Daniel Romauldez has impressed clients like Deeda Blair, Daphne Guinness, Renee and Mark Rockefeller, Ina Garten and the late fashion designer L'Wren Scott.

Brought up in the Philippines, Romualdez was not brought up to become an architect or decorator.  Being son of longtime governor of Leyte Province, Benjamin Trinidad Romualdez, Daniel's future looked as it was far from a creative scene.

No one had a greater effect on young Daniel than Deeda Blair, whose husband, William McCornick Blair Jr., as she encouraged him to follow his passion for architecture despite his father's approval.

"My father was not happy about me going to architecture school, and because of that I was sort of the black sheep of the family," said Daniel, but incidentally around the time when his father was dying in 2012, Architectural Digest 100 List came out and his name was listed as AD100 Architect. After 20 years, it was the first time his father Benjamin understood what Daniel was doing and apologized for letting him be on his own for so long.

Its not all a sad story, as Romualdez found his calling and followed his passion, and instead of having a big ego, he works with his clients, suggest and find a place in between. Romualdez likes to try out new ideas on his own houses - and with four residences in three states, he has plenty room for what he calls "R&D".

From a small and simple beach house in Montauk to a sumptous art filled Manthattan apartment, a midcentury modernist glass house in L.A., and an old farmhouse in Connecticut, Romualdez has a amazing touch for design, architecture and life itself.
