New shop opening strengthens luxury real estate company’s presence in the Americas

Engel & Völkers announced it has opened a new shop on the Placencia Peninsula of Belize, the first in the country for the global real estate brand. Led by license partners Scott and Sandra Gjesdahl, the newly established Engel & Völkers Belize will provide leading real estate services to home buyers and sellers in the central coast and southern areas of Belize, in addition to the Maya Mountains and the Cayes.

“The Belize market is booming, continually ranking among the top destinations for Caribbean real estate investment,” said Anthony Hitt, President & CEO, Engel & Völkers Americas. “As the market is on the precipice of extreme growth, the time is right for Engel & Völkers to enter the region. We’ve had tremendous momentum in the Caribbean recently, and we’re confident that Scott and Sandra, with their proven commitment to premium client service, will be the ideal partners to lead Engel & Völkers Belize.”

Located at ‘The Point’ in Placencia Village along the country’s southern peninsula, Engel & Völkers Belize services those drawn to the area for its diverse ecosystems; historic Mayan ruins; idyllic beachfronts; and one of the largest barrier reefs in the world where residents can enjoy spectacular snorkeling, fishing and diving.

“Lower property taxes and favorable exchange rates combined with Belize’s natural beauty and laid-back island lifestyle make the country an increasingly popular retirement or second home destination for people from all over the world,” said Sandra Gjesdahl, license partner, Engel & Völkers Belize. “The Engel & Völkers brand introduces a new level of recognizable professionalism and sophistication to the Belize real estate market, providing us with the network and tools we need to best service our international clientele and raise real estate quality standards across the board in our market.”
