• The singer bought the property in 1998 for his former wife Mayte García

• Asking price has been set at 5.6 million euros

Hamburg/ Marbella. Even on the luxurious and distinguished enclave of the Costa del Sol, one unique property is still managing to cause a stir. The residence in question is the former retreat of the US pop legend Prince. The singer, composer and music producer purchased the villa in 1998 as a gift for his then-wife Mayte García, who sold it after their marriage ended in 2006. The opulent property in the west of Marbella is now on the market once again. It is being brokered through Engel & Völkers for 5.6 million euros.

The exquisite taste of its extravagant previous owner is reflected in all aspects of the architectural design and fitting standard of the villa. Visitors are greeted in the entrance hallway by a splendid chandelier and a double staircase designed in a colonial style with white balustrades. The master bedroom is set over two storeys. “The property served Prince at the time as a great source of inspiration for his artistic output. The villa still conveys this special creative charm to this day,” said Augusto Vidal, Sales Advisor at Engel & Völkers Marbella West, trying to capture in words the allure of this exceptional home, which is one of the most renowned estates in the whole of Marbella.

The luxury villa with sea views has an interior spanning approximately 890 square metres. It has a total of 13 rooms and a terrace spanning some 240 square metres, as well as three garages and a land plot of almost 6,000 square metres. Besides marble floors, a fireplace, Jacuzzi, sunken bathtubs, a fitness suite and tennis court, special amenities of this property include a separate self-contained apartment and a special security room. A long driveway, not accessible to the public, ensures a great deal of privacy and unparalleled peace and quiet. The villa is located west of Marbella in the hills of the exclusive neighbourhood El Paraíso, around ten minutes from Marbella itself.
