The turquoise sea rustles in the distance underneath a rugged, warm mountain range. The breeze pushes itself through the narrow streets as sounds of laughter and pleasant conversation join clopping hooves and the thwack of polo mallets against wooden balls. Welcome to the sixth annual Engel & Völkers Polo Cup where one walks and dances to the beats of this exceptional island location, feeling sun-kissed and immersed in the exchange of aromas between salty air and smoky barbeque.
Völkers, founder and president of Engel & Völkers, hosted Majorca's social-sporting event of the year at his private Spanish finca, "Son Coll." More than 600 international guests consisting of the Engel & Völkers network, political figures, business leaders, media personalities and global celebrities gathered to partake in the three-day polo tournament. Bentley and Cartier were among four other luxury brand sponsors who represented teams competing for the coveted victory, and top-class players rode a total of 60 horses that were ferried across the Mediterranean for the tournament.
Not strictly a sporting event, however, the Polo Cup was also an event to network with international influencers all in their best White Party fashion. In the evening, guests dined from an asado-style menu of Argentine barbeque created by Michelin-star chef Maca Castro. The meal was accompanied by wine that was harvested from Son Coll’s vineyards. All generously participated in the "It's time to share!" theme for the Engel & Völkers Charity, which worked to fundraise for the construction of schools in Togo, Africa with raffles and the selling of exclusive bracelets and silk scarves.
It was all incredibly memorable, delicious and bright. We wait in anticipation for next year’s Engel & Völkers’ spectacular social event.
